Sep 28: Advertisments on websites. What do you think?
I've finally bitten the bullet and installed some Google AdSense ads on my Kohera site, but also this personal blog. You can see them (and click them, if you're nice) on the right-hand side, near the bottom unless you're using ad blocking software (which I do myself, so don't feel bad about it!).What I'm hoping to do is earn a few pounds through people clicking the links when they have enjoyed reading what ever it is I have written. The number of clicks I get should be proportional to the interest people have in my site, I suppose. That's an incentive to me to write good content, where before I couldn't really tell whether anyone was reading at all, except for particular articles I've written which are very popular as they provide answers to the very questions that I have searched for myself and found the collected knowledge on the subject concerned to be wanting.
I'd like to know your opinion on web advertising of this sort. Personally, I'm not against a few, unobtrusive adverts served off a fast server like Google's, where the adverts are for relevant things. I also don't mind adverts that show the writer's preferences for certain software: note my Picasa2 advert to the right. It's the sort of software I recommend to my clients, so I have no problem about being paid to recommend it by Google. If you like to try Adsense and see if you can make some money through writing good content, would you mind being a referal of mine? they pay me for that, you see
Cheers folks!
